Redesign: Pulse
About
Pulse is a scheduling app that is used for businesses, and allows the workers to view their schedules. To improve the app I redesigned the home page, created an icon system, and made it so that one can view their schedule in both list and month view.

Noticeable Opportunities for Improvement
The home screen consist of only icons, could be turned into a dashboard that is more useful for the user.
The calendar comes only in list view and there is no icon system.
The organization of the app can be confusing and some of the buttons are not used for what they are commonly used for on other apps.
There is no way to accept, decline, or pick up shift requests.
The Dashboard
To improve the home page experience I created a bottom navigation, and turned the home screen into a dashboard. The dashboard informs the worker of their next shift, their schedule for the current week, and shifts that are available for pick up.
I added an icon system for when users are looking at their work schedule. The three icons I have are a sun for morning/day shifts, a moon for afternoon/closing shifts, and an X for days you have off. This icon system is a way for workers to look at their schedules and understand their schedule faster and easier.
Accepting + Declining Popups
From the dashboard a worker is able to accept and decline a fellow worker’s request for pick up. When the worker taps on the button saying “I can!”, they will get a pop up message saying “You have picked up ____’s shift for ___ and it has been added to your schedule!” When the worker taps on the button saying “I can’t.”, they will get a pop up message saying “You have declined ___’s shift.”
Month vs List View
To improve the schedule viewing experience, I felt that you should be able to choose to view the schedule in list or month view. After tapping the schedule icon in the bottom navigation, when looking at your schedule there is a button on the top of the page that you can tap to switch between the list and month view. For both calendars, the current day is highlighted in white, and when other days are selected there is a white outline and no fill.
